Total Build Time: 342 hours.
As with most things that have to be done twice, the second time around went smoother and I was able to make improvements on my technique. For starters, before aligning my root ribs I did a better job of squaring up the wing first, this made the fitting process a lot easier. I used a piano hinge as a plumb bob to check square, and squared using a triangle and shims. At the same time I leveled the wing by shimming on the sawhorses.
Drilling the root ribs after fitment. I’ll also illustrate here how I did the bending of my gussets. I don’t have a proper brake, and this method worked fine for me.
The modification I made to my spare rivet gun head apparently weakened it substantially, and when I had about half a dozen rivets to go it finally failed by collapsing. It did its job though, and saved me a lot of frustration on the 230+ rivets it worked on.
