It’s now been 11 months since I took delivery of my Waiex kit last November. I took off 3 months of building during the summer, so I essentially have spent 8 months of actual building time on the project. I previously made an update at 500 hours and included a time-lapse video that showed the process of building the wings. I decided to make another time-lapse video showing the work from that point until now, with the wings now rigged to the fuselage.
The speed of this video is a little faster than the last, at 4800x real time speed, or 3 hours of real-time per 2 seconds of video. 230 of work passes in under 3 minutes. The video tarts with my re-work of some parts of the aft fuselage due to the recall on some aluminum parts I needed to replace, then the majority of this video working on the foreword fuselage, beginning with parts fabrication for the side panels, then side panel assembly, and finally making the foreword fuselage box and attaching it to the aft fuselage. The progress in the video is basically the same as the order of my posts on this blog.
Also, here are some pictures that show the state of the airframe at the end of this video.
Going forward, I have ordered my Aerovee Turbo engine from Aeroconversions at Sonex and should be taking delivery of it just after Thanksgiving. I have just about reached the so called “90% done, 90% to go” phase of the project.
I have enjoyed watching your pix and videos of your Waiex build. I expect to receive my kit next week. I hope to be able to do as good a job putting it together as you have. I’ve built a SeaRey (which I just sold) but it is nowhere near as complex a build as the Waiex. I intend to use the Turbo Aero for my power too so I hope you will continue with your pix and discussions on the engine build as you have on the plane.
Thanx for documenting your hard work in putting together a bunch of aluminum into a beautiful airplane.

Thanks Ken!
