Fuselage Completion #17 (Electrical Wiring #1)

Posted by on June 14, 2015

Total Build Time: 964 Hours.

I started my wiring by making connections forward of the firewall, and then passing initial wires through the firewall.

I labeled all wires more than a few inches in length using printed labels and clear heat shrink.

I used a pick tool to shove the labels into the heat shrink.

Some wires are spliced together with solder and heat shrink tubing.

I attached the engine accessory plate to the engine mount and used insulated connectors for the secondary ignition wiring to ease removal of the engine in the future.

I replaced the glareshield in order to plan the routing of my wires and cut them to length to create a clean bundle of wires. I’ll post pictures of the wire bundles once I finish the wiring.

With about 80% of the wiring complete, I tested the master switch, starter solenoid, and powered up the MFD, USB and 12v sockets for the first time!

I still need to wire the radio and headset plugs (which I plan to locate on the turtledeck bulkhead), then insert the fuel tank to complete the routing of all the wires.
